After many years, I’m finally a member of the Xbox Nation. I’ve been debating about buying an Xbox 360 for quite a while and Circuit City finally came up with a deal on Black Friday that was too good to pass up on. I was able to buy an Xbox 360 Premium system with Forza 2, Marvel Ultimate Alliance AND a free Microsoft wireless controller for $349. I chose “In-Store Pickup” and should have the console in my hands tomorrow morning (they’re closed today for Thanksgiving).
I am now a part of the next-gen crowd and switched my allegiance to Microsoft after spending 11 years with Sony. There are certain people that never thought this day would come, but it has. It’ll be interesting to finally play online against and talk to people I’ve socialized with on my forum for years – this was the main reason I went with the Xbox 360 over the PS3. It’ll also be nice to post relevant and current video game info from a first-hand perspective – especially since I’ve been running a video-game forum for the past 4 years.
At 8pm on Thanksgiving, Circuit City sent me an order confirmation email requesting that I come after 12pm to pick up my Xbox 360 due to the high volume of traffic in their stores tomorrow. I don’t have a problem with that since the crowds should be lighter in the afternoon and they stated that my items will be put aside for me. Now I just hope I get a newer model with the Falcon processor.
My first two purchases will most likely be a 12-month subscription to Xbox Live and NHL 08. I’m not thrilled about paying for online play since I never had to before, but it seems like Xbox Live may be worth it. I was hoping for a free month of Xbox Live Gold with the purchase of my new console, but it seems that is no longer available.
I hope to update this blog regularly with some (hopefully) interesting stories about my Xbox 360 purchase, the games that I buy for it and my experiences on Xbox Live. I’ll also provide Xbox News, Reviews and First Impressions. Hope you stick around for the ride.
